Koenigsberg Foundation

The Königsberg Foundation in the Donors' Association for German Science manages the scientific and cultural heritage of Königsberg , the former capital of the province of East Prussia . It cooperates with today's Kaliningrad .

Foundation and purpose

The Königsberg Foundation was established in 2003 by the Königsberg City Community and the non-profit Königsberg Foundation Support Company for Cultural and Scientific Cooperation mbH . This also includes the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Museum City of Königsberg in Duisburg and the Franz Neumann Foundation in 1876 . The foundation is based in Essen .

The Museum Stadt Königsberg in Königsberg's godfather city Duisburg is an essential part of the foundation.

In 2013 the board of trustees consists of Klaus Weigelt , Lorenz Grimoni , Eberhard Neumann-Redlin von Meding and Herbert Brass.

Projects

As part of the 750th city anniversary of Königsberg / Kaliningrad in 2005, the Königsberg Foundation curated six exhibitions with the Immanuel Kant University of Kaliningrad , the German-Russian House and various museums. In the same year, together with the municipality of Königsberg, she gave the city of Kaliningrad a replica of the figure of Duke Albrecht .

The foundation promotes youth exchanges between Russians , Poles and Germans etc. a. with a Dresden-Kaliningrad youth exchange. Representatives of the foundation and Russian cultural institutions meet annually in Duisburg or Kaliningrad.

In addition to many exhibitions and grants, the Königsberg City Community also recently made it possible to publish the two important, large-format volumes on Königsberg Castle , which appeared in 2008 and 2011. In the series Kleiner Kunstführer a 24-page guide through the destroyed hoard of Prussian culture and history was published.

The special fund Franz Neumann Foundation , board members Eberhard Neumann-Redlin von Meding and Dirk Hagen, Berlin, annually supports the Franz Neumann Seminar, a teacher training seminar with student workshop; In addition, the scientifically and culturally oriented archive (Hagen-Neumann-Bessel-Koenig) is being further developed and managed in cooperation with various institutions.

German-Russian house

Herbert Beister , Dietrich Wilhelm von Menges and Friedrich von der Groeben initiated the German-Russian House . Construction on former Groeben land began in 1991 and was supported by the Federal Ministry of the Interior . Inaugurated by State Secretary Horst Waffenschmidt in March 1993 , the building was initially managed by the Königsberg Foundation, then 90% by the German Society for Technical Cooperation . It houses the Zeit Foundation , the Bosch Foundation and the Marga and Kurt Möllgaard Foundation and is an important cultural and economic factor in Kaliningrad.
