The Stiftung Kulturregion Hannover is a German foundation for the promotion of cultural projects in the Hannover region . Another purpose of the foundation is to preserve Landestrost Castle . With a foundation capital of more than 20 million euros including the castle, the foundation is one of the largest cultural foundations in northern Germany. The seat of the foundation is in Hannover-Mitte .

history

The foundation was originally founded on November 18, 1997 as Forum Kultur by the former Kreissparkasse Hannover and the former district of Hannover . Cultural projects and the maintenance of Landestrost Castle in Neustadt am Rübenberge , which the district contributed to the foundation as real property , should be funded.

With the merger of the city of Hanover and the district to form the Hanover region in 2001, the organization received its current name. As a result of the regional formation, the Sparkasse Hannover was formed in January 2003 from the Kreissparkasse and the Stadtsparkasse Hannover , which at the same time became the legal successor to the sponsorship of the foundation.
