The type ZB-1300 is a class of product tankers from the Polish shipyard Stocznia Wisła from Gdansk . Six ships were built between 1976 and 1981 for a Polish and a Myanmar shipping company.
Construction and technical data
The ships of the type ZB-1300 were developed as bunker ships for service in Polish ports and until then were the largest ships of this type built in Poland. The type designation ZB-1300 was derived from the development name Zbiornikowiec 1300 DW (German: "1300- Ton tanker "). Previously, only in the Breslauer shipyard Wrocławska Stocznia Rzeczna several series built by smaller bunker ships: first in 1968, the series ZB-700 ( Runk , Tainca ) 1974-75 series ZB-400 ( Smerek , Szrenica , Gron , Nosal ) and 1975 –1977 the ZB-1000 series ( Bukowiec , Halicz , Sleza , Luban , Poroniec ). The client for the four series was the state-run Centrala Produktów Naftowych (CPN, "Central Office for Petroleum Products"), which was also responsible for the bunker services in the Polish ports.
The larger ships of the type ZB-1300 were laid on the Gdańsk shipyard Stocznia Wisła from 1976 on . This shipyard had only built a few small coasters of the Stocznia Wisła B 457 type . Compared to the Wrocław shipyard, the ships in Gdansk could be completely completed, while the Wroclaw ships first had to be towed to Stettin without superstructures and had to be completed there on a rented part of the shipyard.
The ships were 64.60 meters long, 10.4 meters wide and had a draft of 4.70 meters. The measurement of the type ship Murań was 984 GRT and 461 NRT with a deadweight of 1500 tdw . The measurements of the sister ships were slightly higher. The drive consisted of a 1470 hp eight-cylinder Cegielski - Sulzer - diesel engine , model 8AL25 / 30, which acted on a screw and reached a speed of 11.0 knots . The crew consisted of nine people.
The hull of the tanker was equipped with a double hull and reinforced with ice, since the ships were not only supposed to operate as bunker ships in Polish ports, but also as product tankers in the North and Baltic Seas. The class of ship had eight tanks with a total capacity of 1531 cubic meters. The ships were equipped with two cargo pumps for 240 cubic meters / hour each and a residual pump for 50 cubic meters / hour. A small on-board crane was available to handle the loading cables. Two crews of nine men each were provided for the bunker service and were deployed in 12-hour shifts.

The first of the six ships was launched in 1977 for Centrala Produktów Naftowych (CPN) and was named Murań after the Muránska planina mountains in Slovakia . The other ships for the CPN were also given the names of mountains - as is customary with Polish tankers: the Palica in 1977 and the Lubomir in 1978 . The 1979 built Romanka was sold to Myanmar and was named Mahn , followed in 1980 by the Pyi . The last ship went back to the CPN in 1981 and was called Romanka .
The CPN initially used the Murań and Palica in Danzig and Gdynia , the Lubomir and Romanka in Stettin . While the CPN sold the Murań in 1992 and the Lubomir in 1994 and chartered the Palica , Romanka and after the end of the charter also the Palica remained in the service of the CPN successor company and subsidiary of the Orlen Group Ship-Service as bunker ships in Poland.
The two tankers sold to Myanmar went to Myanma Petrochemical Enterprise, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Energy. It produces all types of fuels (LPG, petrol, kerosene, diesel, etc.), fertilizers and other petrochemical products.
