geography

The hamlet of Stoffersberg is located about three kilometers south of Oberigling on the eastern slope of the Upper Riedberg . The federal motorway 96 runs a few hundred meters south of the hamlet .

history

Stoffersberg is first mentioned in 1270 as Stauffen Curia . The place name comes from the Middle High German word for level in the sense of a terrain survey.

The hamlet belonged to the Hofmark Igling and thus to the barons of Donnersberg. Finally in 1640 the farm was handed over to the Landsberg Jesuit College to finance the Latin school. In 1791 the Johanniter in Landsberg took over the property, later Stoffersberg became a state property.

Above the hamlet is the Stoffersberg castle stable .
