History and background
As part of the Carniola , Stopiče belonged to the Habsburg domain. With the end of the First World War, the city came under the rule of the house Karadjordjevic as the Krain 1918 in the newly formed Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes belonging Slovenia opened. The house again lost power in the state that had been known as the Kingdom of Yugoslavia since 1929, when the communists under Josip Broz Tito came to power in 1945 at the end of the Second World War . In the course of the breakup of the SFR Yugoslavia through the Yugoslav wars, the place remained under Slovenian administration after the declaration of independence and the subsequent 10-day war .
Stopiče is located in the middle of the Gorjanci Mountains on a slight hill between the Klamfer and Težka voda streams . The village is about five kilometers as the crow flies from the northwestern city center of Novo Mestos. Schoolchildren from the surrounding villages commute to the local school in the agricultural town.
