In a document, Straß was first mentioned as Straze in 1235 (13th century copy) . Straß was part of the Denkingen office of the Überlingen hospital . The village belonged to the area of the free imperial city of Überlingen . With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , Überlingen lost its imperial immediacy in 1803 and became part of the Electorate and later Grand Duchy of Baden . It was administered by the office or district office of Überlingen . In 1939 the district office became part of the Überlingen district .
In the course of the municipal area and district reform in Baden-Württemberg , the previously independent municipality of Denkingen and thus also of Straß was incorporated into the city of Pfullendorf on January 1, 1973 and at the same time assigned to the district of Sigmaringen .

Culture and sights
Buildings
- The baroque Catholic Chapel of St. Georg (Street 8) was built in 1698 (according to its name) and renovated in 1948. The listed, plastered solid building with roof turret is dedicated to St. Georgius.
- The old wayside cross was erected in 1882 by the Linder family on their farm at the end of the village in the direction of Hattenweiler . After the stone cross with the gilded Christ body had overturned several times, it turned out to be gray, unsightly and chipped. The inscription was illegible and the medallion was missing from the sandstone base. In 2013 it was restored by today's neighbor Fritz Bärenbold and the Soldiers' Comradeship in Denkingen and consecrated again.
- The former Waaghäuschen is also located in the village .
