Hendaye tram

The Hendaye tram ( French : Tramway d'Hendaye ) was a tram company in the French seaside and border resort of Hendaye .

In July 1906 2.8 km long run with horses and steam was narrow-gauge railway of the gauge 600 mm (system Decauville opened). She joined in the summer the station of the Southern Railway to the beach. After the end of the 1907 season, it was decided to electrify the line and change it to meter gauge .

On August 15, 1908, the electric tram with three motor coaches and three sidecars began serving traffic on a route that was last four kilometers in length. The management was in the hands of the Société des Voies Ferrées Départementales du Midi (VFDM), which also carried out the regional transport. Operations ended on November 1, 1935.
