The former Blois tram ( French : Tramway de Blois - TE ) served the traffic in the capital of the Loir-et-Cher department for less than 25 years from 1910 .

history

The eight-kilometer-long meter-gauge rail network of the “Société des Tramways Électriques de Blois - STEB” ran through the inner city of Blois , where the junction of the electric railroad was at Place Victor-Hugo. The main purpose of the five tram lines was to connect the four lines of the branch lines TLC and TELC, which originated from Blois, with the center and with each other. Their terminus were:

  • Saint-Lazare in the north, route of the TLC to Oucques ,
  • Les Lices to the west (near the PO train station), TLC route to Château-Renault

and on the left bank of the Loire in the suburb of Vienne, where the tram depot was also located:

  • Blois-Vienne, TLC route to Saint Aignan ,
  • Blois-Èlectrique, station on the TELC line Cléry – Blois – Les Montils – Amboise and Selles-sur-Cher .

The tram service, for which eleven multiple units were available, opened in 1910 and expanded slightly after the First World War, but was completely shut down on March 15, 1933.

The TLC - Compagnie des Tramways du Loir-et-Cher operated an extensive network of steam-powered small railroad lines between 1888 and 1934.

The TELC - Société des Tramways Électriques du Loir-et Cher supplemented the TLC network with local electric railways from 1913 to 1933.

Although there were track connections with the tram, the local trains could not run through the city center because of the tight curve radii.
