In town

In Malta there is a speed limit of 50 km / h in urban areas. In the tunnels of the multi-lane Regional Road, which runs through the residential area between Birkirkara and Ħamrun , the maximum speed is stated as 45 km / h. To ensure compliance with this, advertisements are installed on the roadside.

Out of town

A speed limit of 80 km / h applies on interurban roads. In particular, roads that connect smaller towns or that are rarely used, such as the road along the Dingli Cliffs , are often in poor condition, even though repair and expansion measures have been announced.
