Road system in Albania

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The road system in Albania is divided into different road categories and operated by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure ( Albanian  Ministria e Transportit dhe Infrastrukturës ). The Albanian road network has a length of about 18,000 km. Of this, around 7,000 km are paved (as of 2002).

Road system

The Albanian road system is divided into the following road categories:

Rruga Autostradale

Rruga Autostradale

The network of the Rruga Autostradale (motorway) is still under construction and is therefore not yet completely accessible. The motorways have structurally separate directional lanes , each with two lanes and one hard shoulder . In addition, they are created without any height . The motorway signs are green, the individual routes are marked with an A and the respective number.

A maximum speed of 110 km / h applies on the motorways built so far , a road toll is not (yet) charged.

Rruga Shtetërore

Rruga Shtetërore

The Rruga Shtetërore (national road) are subordinate to the motorways . These are fast interurban roads that connect the larger cities. The standard of construction is sometimes very different. These can either be built like a motorway or be laid out as a single-lane road (in places with a wide verge ). The signs are blue and the maximum speed limit is 90 km / h. The abbreviation SH and the respective number are used for identification.

Rruga Rrethi

Rruga Rrethi

Roads that run between the individual administrative districts or districts (Rrethi) are called Rruga Rrethi (county road). The maximum permissible speed on these roads is 80 km / h outside the town and 40 km / h inside town. The streets are marked with the abbreviation RR and the respective number.

Rruga Komunale

Rruga Komunale

Subordinate streets that run between individual municipalities (Komuna) and Bashkia are called Rruga Komunale (municipal street ). As a rule, these roads have a low standard and serve less for large-scale traffic, but rather for small-scale development. As with the Rruga Rrethi, these roads also have a maximum speed of 80 km / h (out of town) and 40 km / h (in town). The streets are marked with a K and the respective number.
