The Rruga shtetërore SH56 ( Albanian for state road SH56 ) is a national road in Albania that connects the capital Tirana along the Ore with the Bay of Durrës near Shkallnur on the Adriatic Sea . It is a branch line to the SH2, which runs a little further north . In contrast to this motorway, the SH56 is an undeveloped, narrow and quite winding country road.

Route

The SH56 begins at Skanderbeg Square in the center of Tirana as Rruga e Kavajës and leads first in a westerly and then in a southwesterly direction over the Lana . Up to the outer district of Kombinat , it has been expanded to include several lanes. After the outskirts, the road becomes bumpy and narrow. At Vaqarr it crosses the Erzen and follows its course on the southern bank through a rural landscape.

After about half of the route, where a road goes south to the town of Peza , the course changes to the northwest. A little later, it crosses the town of Ndroq , the end of a bus route from Tirana. Further to the west the valley of the ore opens into a wide plain. Here a junction as SH55 leads north to Shijak . Then she crosses one last range of hills that separates the Shkumbin from the sea. The SH56 ends at the village of Shkallnur : It crosses under the bypass road SH85 , crosses the railway line from Durrës to the south and meets the SH4 at the intersection called Plepa at the southern end of Durrës Plazh .
