The Rruga shtetërore SH60 ( Albanian for state road SH60 ) is a national road in Albania of around nine kilometers in length. It branches off the SH2 motorway at Kashar around six kilometers west of Tirana and leads via Tirana Airport to the SH52 at Fushë-Preza , the connecting road from Fushë-Kruja to Vora . The SH60 was built as an airport feeder, but is also often used as a connection route to northern Albania, as it is less prone to traffic jams.

history

The route is divided into two parts:

  • the old access road to the airport of Fushë-Preza in the northwest to the terminal,
  • a newly built express connection between the airport and the Durrës – Tirana motorway (SH2) in the south.
Northern part of the road with Ishëm Bridge with the villages of Rinas (front) and Fushë-Preza (back)

The originally very narrow road in the northern part was for a long time the only feeder to Tirana Airport. During the Kosovo War , this road was widened by the American military . In 2006 a new, wider bridge was built over the Ishëm and the stretch in this area was straightened. With the opening of the new terminal at the airport in spring 2007, the access road to the south was also opened. This shortened the distance from Tirana to the airport by around ten kilometers.

Route

The SH60 branches off the Durrës – Tirana ( SH2 ) motorway at Kashar without crossing . Almost without changing direction, it runs around five kilometers to the north. It crosses an access road, the Durrës – Tirana railway line, the Lana River and the Tirana River . At the end of this straight section, the road runs almost parallel to the airport runway at a distance of around 1.5 kilometers. In a wide arc to the east, it then steers towards the airport area. At a roundabout by the old terminal, it branches off to the north. As a result, it leads with a few curves through the settlement area of the village of Rinas in a north-west direction to the SH52 and crosses the Tirana River once more.
