The Straža Pass ( Macedonian Стража помине Straža Pomine ; Albanian Qafë e Strazhës ) is a mountain pass in western Nordmazedoniens , the valley communities Gostivar (Macedonian: Гостивар ; Albanian: Gostivari ) in the north and Zajas (Macedonian: Зајас ; Albanian: Zajazi / Zajaz ), Part of the municipality (Opština) Kičevo (Macedonian: Кичево , Albanian: Komuna Kërçova ) in the south. Its maximum height is 1220 m. i. J. The Straža Pass is an important passage for traffic between the economic area Skopje , the capital of North Macedonia, and the south-west of the country with the cities of Ohrid and Struga as well as to eastern Albania.
Straža is located in the Dobra Voda Mountains (Macedonian dobra voda planinite, добра вода планините German: Gutes -Wasser-Gebirge ), which is part of the Bistra Mountains.
The national road M4 leads over the pass and, as European route 75, is part of the Pan-European Transport Corridor VIII .
The pass is also the border between the regions of Polog (Macedonian: Полошки регион, Pološki region ; Albanian rajoni Pollog ) (north side) and southwest (Macedonian: Југозападен регион, Yugozapaden region ) (also the south side) Jugozapaden region ; Alborian : rajoni ërne region ; the cities of Kičevo (Albanian: Kërçov ) in the south and Gostivar (Albanian: Gostivari ) in the north.
