The beam lots Blanket ( Gaillardia suavis ), also Fragrant Kokardenblume called, is a plant of the genus Gaillardia ( Gaillardia ) in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

features

The rayless cockade flower is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 30 to 80 centimeters. It may develop root shoots. The leaves are all heaped at the base of the stem, obverse-shaped, with entire to deeply pinnate, entire margins and have a stalk up to 4 centimeters long. The chaff leaves are 1 millimeter long. The ray-flowers are only 6 to 10 millimeters long or missing. The disc flowers give off a strong, sweet scent and are usually reddish-brown in color. The branches of the style are bare and short.

The flowering period probably extends from June to October.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 76.

Occurrence

The rayless cockade flower occurs in the Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas as well as in the southern USA in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas on sandy and often calcareous prairie soils.

The radiant cockade flower is rarely used as an ornamental plant.
