The Strechenbach is one of the larger tributaries of the Palten . The river rises east of the village of Strechen in the Rottenmanner Tauern .

course

The mountain river flows through the Strechen valley first in a north-westerly direction, until it changes direction north at the confluence of the Rohrachbach stream. Then it flows through the Rottenmanner Klamm and the place of the same name . North of Strechau , the Strechenbach reaches the valley exit into the Paltental . In the middle of Strechau, part of the river branches off to the left and flows back into the Strechenbach shortly before it flows into the Palten . These two streams are called Birn and Strechaubach up to the confluence .
