In north-south orientation it is 40 km long, 15 km wide and connected to the Stavertsi Ridge to the northeast via the Viamata Saddle , with the Avroleva Heights to the east via the Doriones Saddle and with the Solvay Mountains to the south via the Aluzore Gap . The mountains are heavily glaciated, its western slopes are steep and partly free from ice.
British scientists mapped it in 1980 and 2008. The Bulgarian Commission on Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2015 after the Slavic god Stribog .
