The Strindfjord is part of the Trondheimfjord in its southern area, in the area of ​​the municipalities of Trondheim , Malvik and Levanger in the Norwegian Fylke Trøndelag .

It is located northeast of Trondheim between Trondheim, Frosta and Stjørdal . The sea area between the Trondheim district of Lade and the towns of Frosta, Malvik and Skatval is usually considered to be the Strindfjord. The very fish-rich water is known for the fact that it can get very stormy, and many fishermen from the surrounding settlements have lost their lives there.

In the west, the Strindfjord merges into the Flakkfjord northwest of Trondheim. In the east, as an extension of the Strindfjord, the Stjørdalsfjord in the direction of Stjørdal in the southeast (between Malvik, Skatval and Stjørdal) and the Åsenfjord in the northeast (between Frosta, Skatval and Åsen), to its tributaries in turn the Lofjord , the Fættenfjord and the Avikfjord count.
