Strontium nitride is an inorganic chemical compound of strontium from the group of nitrides .
Extraction and presentation
Strontium nitride can be obtained by a two-stage azotization of strontium with nitrogen at different temperatures .
It is also formed when strontium is burned in air.

Strontium nitride is a black solid that reacts violently with water to form strontium hydroxide and ammonia . In addition to strontium nitride, there is also the subnitride Sr 2 N.
