Strumble Head ( Welsh Pen Strwmbl ) is a rocky headland in the Welsh community of Pencaer in northern Pembrokeshire . It is located within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and along the coastline is the Pembrokeshire Coast Path , a 186 mi (300 km) long distance footpath . From there you can see Dinas Head and Cardigan Bay to the east and the Irish Sea to the west .

There are three islands in front of the headland: Ynys Meicel (34 m, 112 ft) and Ynys and Carreg Onnen . On Ynys Meicel is also the Strumble Head Lighthouse , a lighthouse of Trinity House is looked after and got its name from the headland. And Strumble VOR is a route marker for many trans-Atlantic flights.

As Strumble Head - Llechdafad Cliffs , the headland is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and at the same time one of the best places in Great Britain for whale watching, especially harbor porpoises can be seen in the tidal currents around the headland with simple binoculars. Public whale watching tours are regularly organized by the Sea Trust . Seals often appear near the lighthouse. A wartime observation post was set up as a windbreak for hikers and wildlife watchers and was opened by Bill Oddie .

Many ship accidents occurred on the headland. A submerged French wreck, possibly from the Battle of Fishguard , was only discovered in 2003. The Bardse of Pile of Fowdrey sank off Strumble Head on October 3, 1763. She was supposed to bring a shipment of iron and copper from Wicklow to Chepstow . The captain was John Kennel . Another known misfortune befell the Bark Calburga 1915, is one of Canada's last sailing ships with Rahtakelung .
