Parts of the Federal Office for Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services as well as the Federal Office for Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr , command authorities and other military and civil services and facilities.
Location and development
The Von-Hardenberg barracks is located within the district of Strausberg-Nord and is one of the largest military barracks in Germany. The property on Prötzeler Chaussee 20 is designated as a military security area.
history
Strausberg has been a garrison town since 1714 . From 1936, barracks and the Strausberg airfield were built in the area of the current property . In the post-war period, the area was initially used by the Red Army and the Soviet Army and, when the main staff of the barracked People's Police was relocated to Strausberg, the predecessor organization of what later became the Ministry of National Defense , it was handed over to the GDR armed forces .
On 23 August 2014, the Strausberg Nord property was given the name “Von-Hardenberg-Kaserne” with a ceremony and a major tattoo . In addition to the interior minister of Brandenburg, Ralf Holzschuher , and the mayor of the city of Strausberg , Elke Stadeler , numerous guests and visitors accepted the invitation of the inspector of the army, Lieutenant General Bruno Kasdorf , to the solemn ceremony in Strausberg.
The naming “Von-Hardenberg-Kaserne” touches on two of the three lines of tradition of the Bundeswehr. Karl August Fürst von Hardenberg (1750–1822) was one of the leading pioneers of the Prussian state and army reforms and Carl-Hans Graf von Hardenberg (1891–1958) was a representative of the military resistance against the National Socialist regime. Both had their family property in Neuhardenberg and were thus deeply rooted in the region.
