Ralf Holzschuher (born February 17, 1963 in West Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament from 2004 to 2019 . From October 2010 to August 2013 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and from August 2013 to November 2014 Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg.

Life

After graduating from the Evangelical School for Gray Abbey in 1981 in Berlin studied Holzschuher 1982-1987 Law at the University of Tübingen and at the University of Berlin , where he met the first  state exam completed. From 1988 to 1990 he completed his legal clerkship in Berlin . In 1991 he received the 2nd state examination and has since settled in Brandenburg an der Havel as an independent lawyer .

Ralf Holzschuher is the son of a journalist and a nurse. He is married with two children and lives in Brandenburg an der Havel .

politics

Ralf Holzschuher has been a member of the SPD since 1993 and was chairman of the SPD local association in Brandenburg-Neustadt from 1996 to 2005 . From March 2005 to June 2018 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Brandenburg an der Havel. On October 1, 2005, he also moved to the Brandenburg City Council and remained a member until August 2013. He was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from December 2006 to October 2010 and from April to August 2013. Since May 2019 he has been a member of the city council again.

On September 19, 2004, September 27, 2009 and September 14, 2014 he was elected as a direct candidate in the Brandenburg state elections in the constituency of Brandenburg an der Havel II . He was a member from October 2004 to October 2009 and then deputy chairman of the electoral review committee until October 2014, from October 2004 to November 2010 a member (of which from November 2004 to October 2009 deputy chairman) of the legal committee, from November 2010 to September 2013 chairman of the main committee and from November 2004 to August 2013 member, of which 2004 to October 2009 and January 2010 to 2013 its chairman, of the G-10 commission and full member of the judges' selection committee. He was also a member of the BER special committee from January to September 2013 . Since December 2014 he has been chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy and a member of the committees for budget, finance and budget control. He is also spokesman for energy policy for the SPD parliamentary group.

From September 2007 to October 2010 he was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. On September 27, 2010 he was elected chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He took over this function on October 6, 2010, after the previous parliamentary group leader Dietmar Woidke was appointed Minister of the Interior, and held it until August 27, 2013, when he was appointed Minister of the Interior the following day. From October 7, 2010 to August 2013, Holzschuher was also a member of the Presidium of the State Parliament . When the government was reorganized after the 2014 state elections , Holzschuher was not reappointed and therefore resigned from his post on November 5, 2014. He did not run for the 2019 state election .
