Alwin Ziel (born April 22, 1941 in Quernau , West Prussia) is a German lawyer, teacher and politician of the SPD .

Career

After attending school in Zölkow , Parchim and Dömitz , he studied at the Güstrow University of Education and became a teacher of German and Russian. This was followed by an extension course at the Humboldt University in Berlin: rehabilitation pedagogy and communication studies and a second degree in law at the Humboldt University in Berlin.

Then he was a teacher at the Friedrich-Rohr-Oberschule in Grabow , speech and voice therapy teacher at the Dessau advice center , teacher at the Rodewisch School of Economics and research assistant at the Humboldt University in Berlin, research department.

On the occasion of a visit to relatives in Lower Saxony on April 22, 1988 , he fled the GDR . Four months later, on August 16, 1988, he returned to the GDR after his wife was arrested and the authorities threatened to send their sons to a children's home.

Political career

Ziel was a member of the SDP since December 1989 and a member of the SPD since September 26, 1990. From March 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR as well as faction manager of his party and parliamentary state secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

In October 1990 he became a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament and a month later Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg and Deputy Prime Minister. From February 1991 to December 1992 Ziel was chairman of the working group of social democratic lawyers of the SPD regional association Brandenburg and from January 1993 to November 1995 deputy chairman of this working group.

Further offices in the following years were:

  • January 1993 to December 1995 chairman of the conference of interior ministers and senators of the federal states
  • since 1994 board member of the German Paul Lazarsfeld Society .

In October 1999 he became Minister for Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Women of the State of Brandenburg and remained so until August 2002.

In the local elections in 2008 , Alwin Ziel became a city councilor in Hohen Neuendorf . He was elected head of the city council. However, this office resigned in the wake of criticism of his boycott of the meeting of the city council on September 17, 2009. At the same time he announced his resignation as a city councilor.

In the state elections in 2009 , Ziel once again succeeded in entering the state parliament through the direct mandate in the constituency of Oberhavel II . He did not run again for the 2014 state election and thus left the state parliament.

Private

The goal is Protestant, widowed and has two sons.
