Nominations

Ten parties ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , CDU , DKP , DSU , DVU , Die Linke , Family Party of Germany , FDP , NPD , SPD ) as well as 11 political associations, 44 list associations and 925 groups of voters had put up candidates. In some cities and towns, the incumbent mayor ran as the top candidate of his party for the local council. This was criticized by the competing lists as a sham candidacy , since the mayor is a born member of the municipal council.

Electoral system

In the election of the representatives, the principle of proportional representation was elected, with each voter having three votes, which he can cumulate and variegate .
