The liaison flier squadron 14 ( VS-14 ) was a flying unit in battalion strength of the NVA air forces in direct subordinate to the leadership organ front u. Military transport air forces .

history

The beginnings of the liaison forces of the later NVA air forces go back to the An-2 aircraft stationed at the aerodromes of the People's Police Aviation and Aeroclubs in Strausberg, Brandenburg and Cottbus at the beginning of the 1950s . This flying association was founded on April 26, 1956, initially under the names of Transport and Liaison Aircraft (TVFS) or towing squadron . With the An-2 aircraft, connecting flights and support flights for parachute training were carried out from the start.

The TVFS was renamed on December 1, 1961, in the flight liaison squadron 25 (VS-25 or VFS-25). The final designation, connecting flier squadron 14 (VS-14), was introduced on February 1, 1971 as part of a structural reform. The Aviation Technical Battalion 14 (FTB-14), which was directly subordinate to the squadron , was set up at the same time for supply and support . The squadron consisted of up to four liaison chains and courier chains.

On October 3, 1990, the VS-14 was transferred to Lufttransportgeschwader 65 of the Air Transport Command of the Air Force of the German Armed Forces , wound up and largely disbanded by the end of the year. In 1992, the military use of Strausberg airfield by the Air Force ended. The aircraft were given to museums, sold or decommissioned.
