The airfield Dash is a former military airfield of the air forces of the NVA . It is located in the municipality of Neisse-Malxetal in southern Brandenburg , between the districts of Jocksdorf , Preschen and the municipality of Groß Schacksdorf .

history

MiG-29 of JG-3 in Preschen (1990)

Created in 1934 as Jocksdorf airfield , the site was first used as a glider and stopover area from 1937/38 to 1945. After it was captured by the Red Army on April 20, 1945, it was used for a short time by Soviet fighter pilots, after which the area was used for agriculture. The actual airfield was built in 1953/54 and used from 1955 to 1990 and gradually expanded. As a residential zone, a prefabricated housing estate was built in the nearby village of Groß SchacksdorfGroß Schacksdorf-Ost ).

Various airborne combat units of the 1st LVD were stationed at the airfield . The main users were the Jagdfliegergeschwader 3 (JG-3) relocated from Cottbus in December 1956 and the Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron 47 (TAFS-47) established in November 1974 . The JG-3 was the only unit of the NVA that was equipped with MiG-29 fighter aircraft . After being taken over by the Air Force , flight operations continued for a while as the MiG-29 and JG 73 test squadrons , but the site was finally abandoned as a military airfield due to its proximity to Poland - the approach and departure routes partly ran over Polish territory. Flight operations were discontinued at the end of 1994 and JG 73 relocated to Rostock-Laage .

From 1999 to 2003 there was Techno -Club K- ( Kombinat 2 ) on the site of the airfield in a former aircraft hangar . Mainly Hard Tekkno was played . Famous DJs who performed at this club included DJ Rush and Wolle XDP . In 2004 the K-- was closed after some disagreements with Brandenburg offices.

Today the square is operated by the company POINT 36, which offers various event options there.

Aerodrome facilities

Preschen airfield had a 2500 m long and 80 m wide runway (SLB), a ring taxiway with the flight line (VSL), and the so-called southern runway as an emergency runway. In 1977, 24 “Hardened Aircraft Shelters” (HAS) , referred to in the NVA parlance as Closed Aircraft Shelter (GDF), were built in two squadron rooms. From the east end of the runway, an approx. 3.7 km long taxiway leads to the A15 motorway , where a makeshift motorway airport was located. In 1989 the place had a Soviet RSBN radio beacon . Two non-directional radio beacons (GDR terminology: long-distance radio beacon , local radio beacon ) and the PRMG landing system were available in each of the two approaches . Air traffic control was able to use a panoramic radar and a precision approach radar . The military call sign was KOSEL.

To the south of the village of Jerischke there was a ground shooting and bombing range in the Zschorno forest .

Current developments

In 2010, solar systems for electricity generation were installed at the east end of the SLB and in the western area. Some of the shelters are used as storage space, including for silage , while others are empty.

In 2013, the area of the runway between the existing solar parks was built on with another solar park with approx. 80 MW. At the same time, the shelters in the northwest and southwest were removed and a solar system of 12.5 and 7.5 MW was built here as well. This means that further use of the airfield as such is almost impossible. The connection to the power grid takes place in a new substation in Döbern.
