The 1st Air Defense Division (1st LVD) was a large unit of the air forces (LSK) of the NVA of the GDR and directly subordinated to the LSK / LV command.

assignment

The order of the 1st LVD was derived from the overall order of the NVA LSK and consisted of "securing the southern airspace of the GDR".

history

Orders 16/52 and 18/52 of the chief of the VP-Luft of August 13, 1952, were the basis for the establishment of the first flying units and facilities as well as the training of the workforce and the establishment of target structures. The already existing units of the aero clubs of the barracked people's police were included.

From July 1, 1956, the large association was named 1st Air Division , then 1st Fighter Aviation Division and at the beginning of December 1961 the final name was given as 1st LVD .

Staff and divisional command were housed in the barracks area of Cottbus airfield until they were dissolved . The forerunner organization of the divisional command was the KVP-Dienststelle Cottbus. The division command post 31 (GS-31) was located in Kolkwitz , not far from Cottbus.

With the decommissioning of the NVA in 1990, the division command was dissolved.
