Herbert Bohne (born September 22, 1932 in Wallwitz , Saalkreis ) is a former major general in the air force of the National People's Army of the GDR , who was last commander of the 1st Air Defense Division from 1976 to 1982 .

Life

Bohne, the son of an electrician, joined the armed organs of the GDR on December 28, 1950, and was a student at the People's Police School in Naumburg (Saale) between 1950 and 1952 , before taking a special course from 1952 to 1953 Visited in the Soviet Union . Subsequently, Bohne was finally commander of the fighter squadron 8 between 1968 and 1973. After his return, between 1975 and 1976 he only acted as deputy commander and chief of staff of the 1st Air Defense Division in Cottbus . On November 1, 1976, he replaced Major General Günther Schmidt as commander of the 1st Air Defense Division and held this post until his dismissal on December 31, 1982, whereupon Colonel Alois Zieris succeeded him on January 1, 1983. From February 1979 to February 1984 Bohne was a member of the SED district leadership in Cottbus . Bohne was a major general a. D. Member of the Cottbus URANIA district military policy. For his services he was awarded, among other things, the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1981 and in 1977 with the battle medal “For Merit for People and Fatherland” in silver.
