Neisse-Malxetal ( Lower Sorbian Dolina Nyse a Małkse ) is an official municipality in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg . It is administered by the Döbern-Land office, which is based in the city of Döbern .
geography
The community is located in the south-east of Brandenburg in Lower Lusatia on the border with Poland in the historical settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends . It lies directly on the Polish border between Forst (Lausitz) in the north and Bad Muskau in the south. The next big city Cottbus is about 20 to 30 km northwest.
Jerischke has a forest landscape that is well worth seeing with its three nature reserves and a natural monument. In 2004 the Muskau Arches Information Center opened here . The namesake rivers are the Lusatian Neisse and the Malxe .
Community structure
According to its main statute, the community is divided into the districts
- Groß Kölzig ( Lower Sorbian Wjeliki Kólsk )
- Jerischke (Jarješk)
- Jocksdorf ( Kósmejce )
- Klein Kölzig ( Mały Kólsk )
- Preschen ( Rjašćany )
There are also the inhabited parts of the municipality Bahren (Barań) , Gosda II (Gózda) , Pusack (Pusak) , Raden (Radom) and Zelz (Selc) as well as the living areas Bruchmühle (Błotny Młyn) , Katzarmühle (Kacarjowy młyn) , pond houses (Gaty) and Valley Mill (Dolny Młyn) .
history
Groß Kölzig, Jerischke, Jocksdorf, Klein Kölzig and Preschen belonged to the Sorau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Forst district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse.
The community was created on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities Groß Kölzig, Jerischke, Jocksdorf, Klein Kölzig and Preschen.
Sorbian roots
As in the whole of Lusatia, most place names in the community are of Sorbian origin. The place name Kölzig describes a pile settlement (from nso. "Koł"), the name of Jerischke goes back to the personal name "Jarosław". The meaning of the place name von Raden, which is also derived from the Sorbian language, is unclear, it goes back either to a personal name or to the Sorbian word for “happy”. The place name of Gosda II describes a settlement in the dry forest. The name Bahren comes from the Sorbian word for ram and the place name of Zelz comes from the word “sedlo” for settlement.
