Jämlitz-Klein Düben ( Sorbian Jemjelica-Źěwink ) is the smallest municipality in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg. It is administered by the Döbern-Land office, which is based in the city of Döbern .

geography

The community is located in the south-east of Brandenburg in Niederlausitz on the border with the Free State of Saxony in the historical, but not in the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends.

Community structure

Districts according to the Brandenburg municipal code are Jämlitz (Sorb. Jemjelica ) and Klein Düben ( Źěwink ). In addition to the town center, Jämlitz includes the districts of Jämlitz-Hütte and Zschorno ( Carna ; formerly Zschorne, Tzschorne) as well as the residential areas Alte Schänke, Herrmannsmühle, Hirtenmühle and Weißmühle.

history

The first mention of the former vassal estate Jämlitz dates back to 1302, the village was first mentioned in 1564. Klein Düben was first mentioned as Dybe in 1490 .

Zschorno is a former vassal estate. The owner was the hereditary lord Carl Friedrich von Rhaden (* 1707), captain of the Order of St. John , his son was Anton August von Rhaden, district administrator of the Sagan district (* 1757).

Jämlitz and Klein Düben have belonged to the Sorau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Spremberg district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse.

The municipality of Jämlitz-Klein Düben was created on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent municipalities of Jämlitz and Klein Düben.

The municipal council of Jämlitz-Klein Düben consists of eight municipal representatives and the honorary mayor. The local election on May 26, 2019 resulted in the following distribution of seats:

Attractions

traffic

The federal highways B115 ( Forst - Bad Muskau - Görlitz ) and B156 ( Spremberg -Bad Muskau- Bautzen ) run through Jämlitz-Klein Düben . Both run on a common route.

From March to October 1998 the 1.7 km long bypass of Jämlitz was rebuilt.
