Schmogrow-Fehrow , in Lower Sorbian Smogorjow-Prjawoz , is a municipality in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg. It is administered by the Burg (Spreewald) office, which has its seat in the municipality of Burg (Spreewald) .
geography
The community is located in the southeast of the state of Brandenburg in Niederlausitz in the traditional settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends . About 700 meters east of the Fehrow combine Malxe and Hammergraben for Great flow , which flows through the village on the southern outskirts to the west.
Community structure
The districts are Schmogrow ( Smogorjow ) with the inhabited part of the municipality Saccasne ( Zakaznja ) and Fehrow ( Prjawoz ) with the residential area Kolonie ( Kolonija ).
history
Fehrow was first mentioned in a document in 1362. The name Schmogrow comes from the Wendish term smogor for peat. The spelling of the place changed several times over the centuries, 1400 Smogro, later Schmogero and Smogorow, from 1652 Smogrow. In 1995, 25.7% of the population in the district of Fehrow had a knowledge of Sorbian .
Schmogrow and Fehrow belonged to the Cottbus district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Cottbus-Land district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse.
The community Schmogrow-Fehrow was created on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities Schmogrow and Fehrow.

Schmogrow-Fehrow is on the L 50 state roads between Kolkwitz and Drachhausen and on the L 501 to Burg (Spreewald) .
The Schmogrow stop was on the Lübben – Straupitz – Cottbus narrow-gauge railway , which was closed in 1970.
