Dissen-Striesow , Dešno-Strjažow in Lower Sorbian , is a municipality in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg. It is administered by the Burg (Spreewald) office, which has its seat in the municipality of Burg (Spreewald) .
geography
The community is located in the southeast of the state of Brandenburg in Niederlausitz in the traditional settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends .
Community structure
The districts of the municipality are Dissen (Sorb. Dešno ) and Striesow (Sorb. Strjažow ). The old sheep farm ( Stara šaparnja ) is part of Dissen .
The place is also divided into the unofficial parts of the village Grabow , Kněski dwor ("Gutshof"), Końc ("Ende"), Pśedejs ("Vordorf") and We jsy ("In the village").
history
In 1449, Dissen was first mentioned in a document as part of the Mark Brandenburg. In 1464 Striesow was mentioned in a document as Straza . In 1995, 28.9% of the population in the district of Dissen still knew Sorbian .
Dissen and Striesow belonged to the Cottbus district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Cottbus-Land district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse.
The community emerged on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities of Dissen and Striesow.

In the mayoral election on May 26, 2019, Kaiser was elected unopposed with 80.1% of the valid votes for a further term of five years.
Town twinning
The district of Dissen has had partnerships with the Lower Saxony city of Dissen in the Teutoburg Forest and the district of Dissen in the Hessian city of Gudensberg since reunification . These partnerships continued after the church was dissolved on December 31, 2001.
Sights and culture
In the list of architectural monuments in Dissen-Striesow and in the list of ground monuments in Dissen-Striesow are the monuments entered in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.
The Sorbian carnival and the traditional harvest festival are especially cultivated by the village youth. Other customs, such as putting up the maypole and the Easter bonfire with the associated “Schabanack”, are kept alive in Dissen.
