Guhrow , Góry in Lower Sorbian , is a municipality in the southeastern part of Brandenburg in the Spree-Neisse district . It belongs to the Burg (Spreewald) office .
geography
Guhrow is right on the edge of the Spreewald between the communities of Briesen and Werben .
The community is located in the traditional settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends . Public buildings and facilities, streets, paths, squares and bridges are labeled in two languages.

Guhrow was first mentioned by name in 1469.
Since 1816 Guhrow belonged to the Cottbus district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg and from 1952 to the Cottbus-Land district in the GDR district of Cottbus . The community has been in the Spree-Neisse district of Brandenburg since 1993.

Attractions

On the meadow path in the north of the village, a memorial stone commemorates two young farm workers who were surprised by a storm on April 24, 1888 and who were struck by lightning shortly before they reached the village.

Guhrow is on the L 51 state road between Burg (Spreewald) and Cottbus .
The Ruben-Guhrow stop was on the Lübben – Straupitz – Cottbus narrow-gauge railway , which was closed in 1970.

Personalities associated with Guhrow
- Heinrich von Kleist (1777–1811), writer, lived temporarily in Guhrow in the manor house. His father bought the small manor in 1781. Heinrich von Kleist and his six siblings sold the Guhrow estate to Ludwig von Wackerbarth, the owner of the neighboring Briesen estate, in 1797 .
Sports
The sports club in the village is SV 1912 Guhrow with football (Niederlausitz district league) and table tennis.
