About this picture

Tschernitz ( Lower Sorbian Cersk ) is a municipality in the southeast of the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse . It is administered by the Döbern-Land office, which is based in the city of Döbern .

geography

The place is located in Niederlausitz about 30 kilometers southeast of Cottbus . The state border between Brandenburg and Saxony forms the western municipal boundary.

Community structure

The community consists of the districts Tschernitz (Sorbian Cersk ) and Wolfshain (Śisej) . Add to this the dwelling places Adam Schenke (Adamowa Kjarcma) , Herrmann mill rear mountains (Zagora) and shepherd mill (Pastyŕski Młyn) .

history

Tschernitz was first mentioned in a document on October 20, 1283 in a letter from the Meissen margrave Heinrich the Illustrious .

Until the first half of the 19th century, Tschernitz and Wolfshain were predominantly Sorbian-speaking; As early as the 1880s, however, only adults spoke Sorbian, and children - mainly due to German school lessons - only spoke German.

The present district of Tschernitz belonged to Silesia until the 19th century . After the reorganization of the district structure in the Prussian state after the Congress of Vienna in 1816, the place was incorporated into the newly formed district of Sorau in the province of Brandenburg . From 1952 to 1990 Tschernitz belonged to the Spremberg district in the GDR district of Cottbus .

Wolfshain belonged to the Spremberg district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1816 and, like Tschernitz, to the Spremberg district from 1952. Since 1993, both places have been in the Spree-Neisse district of Brandenburg.

The community of Tschernitz was created on October 26, 2003 from the merger of the previously independent communities of Tschernitz and Wolfshain .

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

Coat of arms of the Tschernitz district

In 2006 the district of Tschernitz tried to get a district coat of arms and a flag approved. But the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg refused to approve this project, as the ordinance on municipal emblems does not provide for the coat of arms of a district. Thus, this coat of arms does not represent a municipal emblem. The district of Tschernitz uses or carries this district coat of arms exclusively for representative purposes, for reasons of identification and ties to the homeland. Blazon :

Split by a main shield post quartered with gold and blue ; in front a half-right black eagle floating freely in gold, on the chest covered with a lying silver crescent moon; at the back a silver glass bottle in red over three golden flames growing from the base of the shield.

The main shield post is reminiscent of a "T", the first letter of the place name. The half eagle refers to the historical affiliation of the community to the Principality of Sagan . The tribal coat of arms of the Sagan family shows the Silesian eagle with a crescent moon, which also appears in the coat of arms of the district. Tschernitz has been the location of a glassworks since 1829 . This tradition of commercial history is symbolized by the flames and the representation of a typical technical glass from older Tschernitz production.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldist Frank Diemar .

flag

The flag is striped red and yellow and bears the coat of arms of the district in the middle.
