Groß Schacksdorf-Simmersdorf ( Lower Sorbian Tśěšojce-Žymjerojce ) is a municipality in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg (Germany). It is administered by the Döbern-Land office, which is based in the city of Döbern .
geography
The municipality is located in the southeast of the state of Brandenburg in Niederlausitz on the border with Poland , about 5 km south of the district town of Forst (Lausitz) in the historical, but not in the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends . Groß Schacksdorf is surrounded by 23 ponds, in the vicinity of which a rich animal world has settled.
The Preschen airfield is located south of Groß Schacksdorf . Access to this former military airfield is via the Groß Schacksdorf-Ost district, the former NVA housing estate.
Community structure
Districts of the community are Groß Schacksdorf (Sorbian Tśěšojce ) and Simmersdorf ( Žymjerojce ). The inhabited district of Waldsiedlung (until 2012 Schacksdorf-Ost) belongs to the Groß Schacksdorf district, while the settlement area belongs to Simmersdorf .
history
Groß Tzschacksdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1346 in the registry of the Meißner Stift . On October 18, 1937, the name was changed to Groß Schacksdorf.
Groß Schacksdorf and Simmersdorf belonged to the Sorau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1816 and to the Forst district in the GDR district of Cottbus from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse.
On December 31, 2001 the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent community of Groß Schacksdorf and Simmersdorf took place.

traffic
Groß Schacksdorf-Simmersdorf is located on federal highway 115 between Forst (Lausitz) and Döbern . The A 15 motorway ( Spreewald triangle - Polish border) runs through the municipality. The forest junction is in the immediate vicinity of the community.
Simmersdorf station was on the Weißwasser – Forst railway line , on which passenger traffic was discontinued in 1996.
