The Office Burg (Spreewald) , Lower Sorbian Office Bórkowy (Błota) , based in the municipality of Burg (Spreewald) , manages the administrative business of six legally independent municipalities.

The office is located in the northwest of the Spree-Neisse district in the state of Brandenburg . It borders in the west on the unofficial cities of Lübbenau and Vetschau ( district Oberspreewald-Lausitz ), in the north on the Lieberose / Oberspreewald district ( district Dahme-Spreewald ), in the east on the independent city of Cottbus and in the northeast on the Peitz district and in the south to the Kolkwitz community in their own district.

history

The Burg (Spreewald) office was formed on July 16, 1992 from the municipalities of Briesen, Burg (Spreewald), Dissen , Fehrow , Guhrow, Müschen , Schmogrow , Striesow and Werben. Initially, the administrative authorities were spread over several municipalities, before administration was concentrated in Burg (Spreewald) in 1997. Since, according to the guidelines of the state of Brandenburg, municipalities with fewer than 500 inhabitants are no longer allowed to exist independently, the number of municipalities decreased after December 31, 2001. Müschen was incorporated into the municipality of Burg (Spreewald), and Dissen and Striesow and Fehrow and Schmogrow teamed up in each case.

Municipalities and districts

All municipalities are bilingual ( German , Lower Sorbian ) and have official place names in both languages.
