history
On April 23, 1992, the mayors of twelve municipalities signed a "public law agreement on the formation of the Peitz office". On July 3, 1992, the Minister of the Interior gave his approval for the establishment of the office, which was set to take place on July 16, 1992. The seat of the official administration is the city of Peitz. The following twelve communities from the then Cottbus-Land , Forst and Guben districts were summarized in it (in the order in which they were named in the official gazette):
- Bärenbrück,
- Drachhausen,
- Drehnow,
- Mouse,
- Neuendorf,
- Preilack,
- Turnow,
- Grötsch,
- Heinersbrück,
- Schönhöhe,
- Dew
- City of Peitz.
On December 6, 1993, the community Schönhöhe was incorporated into Tauer.
On December 31, 2000, the communities of Bärenbrück, Mouse and Neuendorf merged to form the new community of Teichland.
The communities Preilack and Turnow merged on December 31, 2001 to form the new community Turnow-Preilack.
On October 26, 2003, the municipality of Grötsch was finally incorporated into the municipality of Heinersbrück by law. At the same time, the new municipality Jänschwalde was formed from the municipalities of Grießen, Drewitz and Jänschwalde of the Jänschwalde office and assigned to the Peitz office. The Jänschwalde office was dissolved.
The municipality of Grötsch appealed to the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg against its incorporation into the municipality of Heinersdorf and against the enlargement of the office through the merger with the previous office of Jänschwalde, which was "partly rejected, otherwise rejected" in 2006. The constitutional complaints of the three municipalities of Jänschwalde, Drewitz and Grießen of the Jänschwalde office against their legally ordered merger to form the new Jänschwalde municipality, the dissolution of the Jänschwalde office and the assignment of the new Jänschwalde municipality to the Peitz office were partially rejected in 2006 and the rest rejected.
In November 1995 the official seat was moved to the Rehn factory, which was expanded to become the administrative seat.
