Friedrich Wilhelm von Schönfeld

Friedrich Wilhelm von Schönfeld (born October 7, 1730 in Guhrow (district of Cottbus), † October 19, 1805 in Breslau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

origin

His parents were Kaspar Siegmund von Schönfeld and his second wife Brigitte Tugendreich von Oertzen . General Georg August von Schönfeld was his stepbrother.

Military career

On January 6, 1746, he came as a private corporal in Infantry Regiment No. 38 . On February 8, 1751 he was ensign and on October 27, 1756 Seconde-Lieutenant . In the Seven Years' War he fought near Prague , Breslau and Kunersdorf . He took part in the sieges of Prague, Dresden and Schweidnitz and the battles at Zittau , Dommitsch and Holitz . During the war he became Premier-Lieutenant on January 11, 1758 and on December 28, 1760 Captain of the Staff. After the war, on September 10, 1764, he became a real captain and company commander in the regiment.

He then took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession and on December 1, 1779, was major in Regiment No. 38. On June 3, 1782, he became battalion commander. On June 29, 1788 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on September 14, 1788 during the revue in Neisse the Pour le Mérite . On September 14, 1790 he became a colonel and on June 4, 1791 commander of regiment No. 38. In the First Coalition War he fought at the siege of Mainz, the battle of Kaiserslautern and the battle at La Lune. On January 13, 1795, he was promoted to major general and appointed chief of the 49th Infantry Regiment . On October 2nd, 1800 he received his resignation and a pension of 1000 thalers.

He died at the age of 75 and was buried in Breslau on October 23, 1805.

His first wife was Wilhelmine von Arnold († 1769). After her death in 1770 he married her sister Anna Henriette von Arnold (born January 9, 1750; † November 9, 1798). He married his third wife, Gottliebe Karoline von Bonsdorff (* May 2, 1772; † August 29, 1857) on September 15, 1799. His son Eberhard August Dietrich from this marriage (* September 28, 1802) was a member of the Guard Hussar Regiment.

After the death of her husband, Gottliebe married Karoline von Bonsdorff again: 1806 Heinrich Sigismund von Tschirschky and on May 20, 1810 Colonel Heinrich Wilhelm August von Schaetzel .
