history

Jocksdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1487. The spelling at that time was Jogsdorf , in 1588 the place was called Jocuffsdorf . The place is named after a Jakob , which refers to the founder of the place or a former owner. The village was a vassal property of the Forst dominion . According to the topographical-statistical overview of the administrative district of Frankfurt ad O. from 1844, Jocksdorf had 187 inhabitants in 30 residential buildings at that time. The village was and is still part of the parish of Groß Kölzig. By 1867 the population in Jocksdorf rose to 219, for this year Jocksdorf has a Vorwerk and a watermill .

Until the second half of the 19th century, the Jocksdorf population mainly spoke Sorbian. Due to the abolition of Sorbian school lessons and Sorbian-language services, which was ordered and carried out in this century, all residents under thirty were German-speaking as early as the 1880s. Today the place is no longer part of the Sorbian language area.

As a result of the Congress of Vienna , Lower Lusatia and thus also the town of Jocksdorf came from the Kingdom of Saxony to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . There the place was after the district formation in 1816 in the district of Sorau (Lausitz) in the administrative district of Frankfurt in the province of Brandenburg . Until 1945 the place name had the addition of forest to distinguish it from Jocksdorf near Triebel (today Jagłowice ), which is also in the Sorau district . After the end of the Second World War, the community became part of the Soviet occupation zone and was reclassified into the Cottbus district and later part of the GDR . On July 1, 1950, Jocksdorf was again reclassified to the Spremberg district . During the district reform on July 25, 1952, the community came to the Forst district in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , the district of Forst was renamed the District of Forst . In the course of the district reform in December 1993, Jocksdorf came to the newly founded Spree-Neisse district , where the place was initially administered by the Hornow / Simmersdorf office. On December 31, 2001, the municipality of Jocksdorf was merged with the municipalities of Jerischke , Groß Kölzig , Klein Kölzig and Preschen of the Döbern-Land office to form the new municipality of Neisse-Malxetal . With that, Jocksdorf moved to the Döbern-Land office.
