The Stubai brand describes the products manufactured by Stubai Werkzeugindustrie reg.Gen.mbH .
The Stubai Werkzeugindustrie reg.Gen.mbH with its production sites in Fulpmes in the Stubaital is one of the best-known manufacturers of the high-quality small iron industry. Around a hundred companies, usually with fewer than a dozen employees, produce various small irons, especially knives , scissors , axes , hammers and special tools for woodworking , all of which are united in a cooperative . In recent years, the business field of carabiners for climbing as well as ice axes and crampons has also developed.
The Stubai Werkzeugindustrie reg.Gen.mbH can look back on more than 100 years of history, when the master blacksmiths in Fulpmes came together to market their products in a cooperative. Wandering sellers brought the products to the Baltic States . The Stubai products enjoyed a special reputation primarily because of their iron and workmanship quality. If the necessary ore was mined in the Stubai Valley in the 16th and 17th centuries , the raw materials had to be purchased in the following centuries.
When quality began to decline at the beginning of the 20th century and the large industrial competition, especially from the German steel regions, grew, a technical school for iron processing was founded in Fulpmes, which continues to this day as a technical college . In addition, Fulpmes was connected to the railway network with the Stubaitalbahn in 1904, creating a connection to Innsbruck , the intersection of the Brennerbahn , Arlbergbahn and Mittenwaldbahn .
During the First World War , the factory cooperative saved the residents of Fulpmes from being drafted to the front because the industrial companies were used for arms production.
The cooperative form of organization also prevented the emergence of a socialist workers 'movement in Fulpmes - the workers of the cooperative were almost always organized in the Catholic workers' association , which was Christian-socially oriented.
To this day, the Stubai Werkzeugindustrie reg.Gen.mbH has retained its organizational form and consists of the trading house as the sales organization of the member companies and a production plant for the industrial manufacture of forged parts. The plant, originally only a supplier for the member companies, has developed more and more into a second mainstay as a supplier of upsetting and forged parts for industry over the past 30 years.
