Sturgeon Lake (Engl. For " sturgeon -See") is a lake in the Canadian province of Ontario .
It belongs to the Kawartha Lakes group of lakes . The lake has a Y-shaped shape.
The lake is part of the Trent-Severn waterway . This runs from the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron over the Kawartha Lakes and the Otonabee River to Rice Lake and over the Trent River to the Bay of Quinte of Lake Ontario .
The following communities are located on the lake: Fenelon Falls at the northwest end, Lindsay at the south end, Sturgeon Point at the headland between the northwest and northeast arms of the lake, and Bobcaygeon at the northeast end of the lake. The lake measures about 25 km from the southern to the northeast end, the longer axis.
Inflows and outflows
The Scugog River forms the outflow of Lake Scugog to the south and flows into Sturgeon Lake at the southern end. The Fenelon River drains Cameron Lake and flows into Sturgeon Lake on the northwest shore. The Emily Creek flows in the middle south to the lake.
The outflow of Sturgeon Lake form the two channels "Big Bob" and "Little Bob" of the Bobcaygeon River at the northeast end. The water drains to Pigeon Lake to the east .
