Suicide Circus

The Suicide Circus is a techno club in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain . It is operated on the RAW site near Warschauer Strasse .

history

The Suicide Club was founded in 1994 on Dircksenstrasse by Ralf Brendeler. DJs Rok , Clé and Tanith , among others , played there. After three years of use of the site, it had to close. Over the years the club has had to change location several times. Ultimately, the location was relocated to the RAW site on Revaler Strasse in 2009.

The area around the RAW site has been the focus of the Berlin police for several years . So the operator decided to move the entrance from Revaler Strasse to Warschauer Strasse in order to counteract drug crime on the street.

The owners of the site - the Kurth Group from Göttingen - considered demolishing the old buildings and replacing them with new ones in 2016. The Suicide Circus would also be affected by these plans .

The club is mostly open from Tuesday to Sunday. There is an open air floor and an indoor floor. Numerous well-known DJs have played here in the past, including Electric Indigo , Gebrüder Teichmann , Tyree Cooper and Mike Vamp .

The club took part in the “ United We Stream ” campaign of the Berlin club scene, which suffered massive losses due to the measures taken against COVID-19 .

In the user ranking of the Internet portal for electronic music Resident Advisor , the club is rated as one of the twelve most popular in Berlin (as of September 2017).
