Sulima is a place at the southern tip of the West African Sierra Leone in the Pujehun district , at the mouth of the Moa River in the Atlantic Ocean . Founded as a trading post in the 19th century, Sulima was home to a large number of Liberian refugees in the 1990s and 2000s .

economy

Along the coast, between the Moa and the Mano , there are several beaches that are also used for tourism.

Sulima is to be established as an important location for the Chinese mining company China Kingho since 2014. Among other things, a railway line is to be built to the mining areas around Tonkolili (status 2013). A smelting plant , a deep-sea port , a hydropower plant and an industrial park are also planned (as of 2014). The projects were not implemented after the company withdrew from Sierra Leone in late 2018.
