Sultan Masood Dakik (born August 19, 1967 in Kabul , Afghanistan ) is a German entrepreneur . In recognition of his commitment to refugees, disadvantaged people and orphans, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on February 5, 2015 .

Life

Origin and family

His father Abdul Khaliq Khan as ambassador for Afghanistan to the UN.

Sultan Masood Dakik is descended from the Afghan royal family on his father's side. He comes from the Muhammadzai dynasty , which ruled Afghanistan from 1826 to 1978. His father was Abdul Khaliq (1927-1992). He was the first Afghan to obtain a doctorate from the Sorbonne in Paris , was his country's ambassador to the United Nations (UN) for 35 years and later Minister of Transport. Sultan Masood Dakik's mother is from Saudi Arabia ; it is said to have descended in a direct line and in the 30th generation from the founder of the religion, Mohammed .

Education and career

Sultan Masood Dakik graduated from high school in 1984 in his native city of Kabul. As a member of the former Afghan royal family, he had to leave the country in 1984 after the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan . He fled Afghanistan to Pakistan on foot for seven days . After his escape he came to Germany with his mother and sister in 1984, where he has lived permanently ever since. He completed an apprenticeship as a textile merchant. Later he founded a company for women's clothing in Düsseldorf , which he sold again after a few years for family reasons in order to be able to take care of his sick mother.

He now runs several companies in the areas of financing and consulting, in the oil business and in the "New Technologies" area. He pays particular attention to renewable energy projects and climate protection , especially in Saudi Arabia . In cooperation with the University of Hohenheim ( agricultural science ), he is pursuing the project of establishing the multi-usable jatropha plant, which also helps to reduce CO2 , on large fallow land . He maintains very good relations with the Saudi royal family.

Sultan Masood Dakik, who has been a German citizen since 1995, lives on the Lower Rhine ; he lives in Brünen / Hamminkeln . He is married to his wife Sayyida Nargis Dakik and has three sons.

Voluntary aid projects

Dakik was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 2015.

Sultan Masood Dakik is the initiator of numerous humanitarian and social aid projects. His social commitment applies particularly to refugees and disadvantaged people. For this he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on February 5, 2015.

Sultan Masood Dakik is the founder of the "Association for Afghanistan Promotion". He is a volunteer for the association, among other things, he campaigns for literacy and training for women in Afghanistan. He financially supports two large orphanages, u. a. for children with disabilities, in Kabul and helps injured war children, for whom he organizes maintenance and pastoral care. A project in northern Afghanistan supported by Dakik is training 60 women to become tailors . In addition to teaching manual skills, the women also receive lessons in arithmetic , writing and reading . Furthermore he has 49 sponsored children, u. a. in Tanzania , Uganda , Nigeria and Pakistan , which he supports financially and which he informs himself about on site about their careers.

In Hamminkeln and Wesel , he supports newly arrived refugee families with visits to the authorities, with translations and certifications, with the search for living space and cheap furnishings. He also rents out living space to Afghan refugees and helps assemble the furniture himself.

Awards

  • 2015: Federal Cross of Merit in the level of the Cross of Merit on Ribbon , for his social commitment in refugee aid.
