The Sulzberg ( 1146 m ) is a mountain in the Bavarian Forest northeast of the city of Freyung and is located in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park about 4 km from the border with the Czech Republic . Except for a small cleared area near the summit, it is completely forested. The Goldene Steig used to lead over its ridge .
The next settlement is the district of Bischofsreut in the municipality of Haidmühle . The nearest neighboring mountains are southwest of the Haidel ( 1146 m ) and in the Czech Republic northeast of the Žlebský kop. ( 1079 m ).
IMS station
Two of the German IMS ( International Monitoring System ) measuring stations for monitoring the nuclear test ban contract are located on Sulzberg . The primary seismic station GERES (PS19) consists of 25 seismometers which are installed in a radius of two kilometers. The five measuring points of the 26DE (IS26) detect infrasound . The favorable geological conditions led to the establishment of the measuring points here.
