Jin Bo-Ra (born January 12, 1987 in South Korea ) is known in South Korea and Japan by her stage name Sunday . She was originally a solo singer and made her debut in Japan in 2004. She is now a group member of the South Korean girl band The Grace , which debuted in 2005.

Career

Sunday was first heard from the record company SM Entertainment in 2002 when they signed a contract. She was trained to be a solo singer there and should make it big in Japan. She was originally supposed to debut there under the stage name Bora . Due to the similarity of the name with that of the South Korean singer BoA, who is also under contract with SM Entertainment, and the resulting likelihood of confusion , her record company changed the name to Sunday .

To make her debut in Japan in 2004, she lived in Japan for two years and learned the Japanese language there . She signed a record deal for Japan with Avex Trax , where Asian music legends like Ayumi Hamasaki , BoA, Kumi Kōda , Namie Amuro and many more. can be found. She then released her first Japanese single Lira no Kataomoi ( リ ラ の 片 想 い ) on July 8, 2004 , which debuted at number 120 on the Oricon charts and sold 1,824 times in the first week. In addition, the second Japanese single followed a year later, on April 20, 2005, which was called Usotsuki Boy ( ウ ソ ツ キ BOY ). This single was much better received in Japan, debuting at number 87 and selling 5,057 copies after five weeks. In the same year, however, she decided to continue with the band The Grace .

Since 2010 she has also played in several musicals, for the first time in the South Korean version of the musical Rock of Ages . Several well-known celebrities were in this musical, such as Dana or Onew and Jay, a member of the South Korean band Trax.

At the end of June 2011, SM Entertainment announced the return of the band "The Grace" in a reduced line-up with changed band names. The new name, which only consists of the two group members Dana and Sunday, is The Grace: Dana & Sunday . On July 8, 2011, they released the music video for the new single "One More Chance". The single has been available in digital format since July 11, 2011.
