Hong Sung-mi (born July 17, 1986 in Seoul , South Korea ) is known in South Korea by her stage name Dana . She was originally a solo singer and made her debut in 2001. She is now a group member of the South Korean girl band The Grace , which debuted in 2005.

Career

Dana started early as a solo singer with Lee Soo-man's record company SM Entertainment , her goal should be "the next BoA ". In 2000 she had a role with HOT in the 3D film for Age of Peace ( kor. 평화 의 시대 ; dt. Century of Peace), she played the role "Dana". She then appeared in 2001 in Kangta's first music video , "Polaris". A year later, in 2002, she starred in the South Korean sitcom for Nonstop 3 and also played her own role there.

Dana released two Korean studio albums between 2001 and 2003. On September 1, 2001, she brought her first album Sesangkkeutkkaji ( 세상 끝까지 ; "Far from the End of the World") to the South Korean market, which was well received by the audience. On the album there was a music video for the song "Diamond", which is a duet with Yunho ( TVXQ ). On October 1, 2003, she tried to build on her first success with another album, Namgyeodun Iyagi ( 남겨둔 이야기 ; "Maybe"), which did not succeed.

Since 2005 she has been a member of the South Korean girl group The Grace . They performed in the People's Republic of China and Japan . For the fourth Japanese single, she recorded the song " Sayonara No Mukou Ni " as the b-side . The band took a longer break since 2009 and it is also unknown when they want to return.

Since 2010 she has also played in several musicals. Her first was ( 고궁 뮤지컬 대장금 ) Daejanggeum Season Three , in which she played the role 서장금 . In the same year she also played in the South Korean version of the musical Rock of Ages and played the role as "Sherrie Christian". Several well-known celebrities were in this musical such as Sunday or Onew and Jay, who is from the South Korean band Trax . From 2010 to 2011 she was also active in the South Korean musical for ( 삼총사 ) The Three Musketeers and played the role as "Constance". Jay and Kyuhyun from Super Junior played here .

At the end of June 2011, SM Entertainment announced that the band "The Grace" should come back, but as an extended group. The extended group is called The Grace: Dana & Sunday and consists only of the two group members Dana and Sunday. On July 8, 2011, they released the music video for the new single "One More Chance". The single has been available in digital format since July 11, 2011.

For the series “For You in Full Blossom” ( 아름다운 그대 에게 ) Dana recorded the title “Maybe We” ( 어쩌면 우린 ), it is a continuous disco pop song and is on the soundtrack for the series, which The OST Part 4 for SBS Drama 아름다운 그대 에게 (For You in Full Blossom) is called. The soundtrack album was released in September 2012.
