Sune Spångberg (born May 20, 1930 in Stockholm ; † June 21, 2012 ) was a Swedish jazz and improvisation musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Spångberg grew up in a musical family in Vasastan . By profession a photo lab technician, he developed among a group of musicians who played modern jazz from 1957 under the group name Jazz Club 57 , a. a. with Claes-Göran Fagerstedt, Bernt Rosengren , Lasse Werner and Lars Gullin . Together with Torbjörn Hultcrantz, he also participated in Stan Getz's tours in Sweden. In 1962 he recorded Hultcrantz's first album with Albert Ayler in Stockholm ( Something Different !!!! , later also re-released as The First Recordings by DIW ). In the same year he appeared in a trio with pianist Bud Powell and Hultcrantz at the Stockholm club Gyllene Cirkeln , documented on the albums At the Golden Circle I-IV on SteepleChase .

A disease of multiple sclerosis made the further jazz career difficult. In 1971 he founded the Swedish improvisation ensemble Iskra with Allan Olsson , which existed until 1991. In 1992 he appeared in the feature film Hammar by Håkan Alexandersson. In 2009 he released the album Surviving with his own trio .
