Sunjeong Manhwa ( kor. 순정 만화 ; roughly: romantic Manhwa ) is a South Korean film from 2008. It is based on the webcomic ofthe same nameby Kang Full . It is the second film from director Ryu Jang-ha . The film is also known under the titles Crush on You or Hello Schoolgirl .

In Sunjeong manhwa is a film adaptation of a Webcomics by Kang Full of the same name. Sunjeong Manhwa was Kang Full's first webcomic and became very popular in South Korea. He had over 60 million page views on the Daum web portal . As in the comic, the film is all about two unconventional romances with considerable age differences. However, there are also differences between comics and films: for example, the film is set in summer, but the plot of the comic is in winter. Shooting started on April 1, 2008. Kang Full made a cameo in the film .

Kwon Yeon-woo is a somewhat naive 30-year-old civil servant who works in the county office. After moving into a new apartment, he runs into high school student Soo-yeong every morning on his way to work. The 18-year-old girl lives in the same building with her mother. After a while, both develop feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Kang Sook has just started working in the district office as well. He falls in love with the 7 years older Kwon Ha-kyeong. Ha-kyeong rejects Kang Sook because she mourns an old love.

Sunjeong Manhwa opened in South Korean cinemas on November 27, 2008. The film was the most successful film on its opening weekend with 309,065 visitors. By December 21, 2008, the film had a total of 740,379 visitors.

The film was released on DVD in South Korea on March 27, 2009 .

criticism

Joon Soh of the Korea Times praised the film for maintaining the essence of the comic book, despite some deviations from the original.
