David B. Chyzowski (born July 11, 1971 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played on the position of the left winger . In the National Hockey League he played 126 games for the New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks , in which he scored a total of 31 points. In the German Ice Hockey League he went on the ice for the Augsburg Panthers , Munich Barons and Schwenninger Wild Wings .

Career

Dave Chyzowski began his career in 1986 with the St. Albert Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League . For the following season, the Canadian moved to the Western Hockey League , where he laced the skates for the Kamloops Blazers until 1990 . In the NHL Entry Draft 1989 , the annual talent draw of the National Hockey League , selected behind the Swede Mats Sundin as the overall runner-up by the New York Islanders , with whom he was under contract between 1989 and 1995 . After a promising start, scoring in his third and fourth games, he failed to live up to expectations. After he played mainly in the NHL in the first year, he was mainly in the farm team of the Islanders, mainly the Capital District Islanders from the American Hockey League , in the following years . Other farm teams he played for were the Springfield Indians from the AHL and the Salt Lake Golden Eagles and Kalamazoo Wings from the International Hockey League .

The season 1995/96 completed Chyzowski with the Adirondack Red Wings in the AHL, the farm team of the Detroit Red Wings . The following season he laced the skates for the Chicago Blackhawks from the NHL and for their IHL farm team Indianapolis Ice , before he was under contract from 1997 to 2000 with their league rival Kansas City Blades .

The Canadian spent the 2000/01 season in Europe for the first time , where he played in the German Ice Hockey League for the Augsburg Panthers and Munich Barons . The following two seasons he went on the ice for the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the DEL, before moving to the Austrian ice hockey league for the 2003/04 season, where he skated for one year for the Graz 99ers and another year for the Vienna Capitals laced. With the Viennese he became Austrian champions in 2005 and then ended his active career with their league competitor EHC Linz , where he was under contract for two years.

International

Chyzowski represented the Canadian national ice hockey team at the 1990 World Junior Championship , where he led the team as team captain to win the gold medal and was appointed to the tournament's all-star team .
