Hagenholzstrasse high-rise (official name, formerly Sunrise Tower ) is a high-rise in the Seebach district in the north of the city of Zurich .
The building, one of the tallest in the city of Zurich , comprises two 88 and 72.5 meter high towers on a shared 25 meter high base.
The facade area is 18,000 m². The interior of the building (215,000 m³ according to building standard SIA 116) is modernly furnished in Scandinavian style. The furniture in the canteens and lounges comes from the Danish designer Arne Jacobsen . The architect Max Dudler chose the same materials and proportions for the windows as in the Diocesan Library in Münster , in which he was also involved.
Edification
With the construction of the Sunrise Tower, a high-rise-free era came to an end in Zurich: the city council had previously not approved any high-rise buildings for twenty years. On August 25, 2005, Councilor Hans Hollenstein handed over the keys to the then Sunrise CEO Hans Peter Baumgartner .
Construction work began in 2000 and was completed in 2005. It was created from a design by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Waschle Wüst and the Max Dudler studio that won the architecture competition . The building is also known as the diAx Tower , promoted by the former mobile phone provider diAx as the main tenant. Tele Denmark merged Sunrise Communications and diAx to form TDC Switzerland and took over the construction project, which has since been called the CI- compliant Sunrise Tower . However, the client and owner of the building is the civil service insurance fund of the Canton of Zurich . Zschokke (now Implenia ) had the building constructed for around CHF 200 million as a general contractor .
The building complex corresponds to the first construction phase of the overall Quadro development, which will comprise four buildings after its completion. The four office buildings will be grouped around the publicly used Quadroplatz and will then form one of the most striking areas in Zurich-Leutschenbach. In addition to the Sunrise Tower, the somewhat lower MainTower (16 upper floors) will also be part of the overall development after construction has been completed.
Usage history
Since May 2005, TDC has been moving the various locations around Zurich together in the towers. The floors were occupied from top to bottom and the move was completed by September 2005. About 2000 people are currently working in the development, with the potential for 2200 jobs. Large parts of the tower have been used by Credit Suisse IT employees since 2009 .
On November 11, 2009, the Swiss Ueli Gegenschatz sustained serious injuries during a base jump from the Sunrise Tower as part of an advertising campaign, which he succumbed two days later.
At the beginning of February 2010, the entire TDC Switzerland moved out of the Sunrise Tower, which is now largely rented by Credit Suisse and has been re-labeled accordingly.
